Cru is a director in Murphy Pearson’s San Francisco office whose current practice focuses on litigation of all types, including general business, professional liability, legal malpractice, white-collar defense, and general criminal defense. While primarily focused on defense, his practice also includes plaintiff’s side civil litigation cases. In addition to his litigation practice, Cru advises business and individuals on legal matters, often with the goal of avoiding litigation.

Cru has a passion for learning and for expanding his area of expertise. In 2019, Cru became a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Through his CIPP/US certification and experience, Cru provides invaluable insights to his clients on issues ranging from collection and use of data, including government and court access to private-sector information, as well as workplace privacy and state privacy laws. This is especially helpful in the quickly evolving realm of privacy.

Prior to joining Murphy Pearson, Cru served as an Assistant District Attorney with the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, where he prosecuted violent criminals for crimes ranging from murder to property offenses. This experience allows Cru to approach his criminal defense cases from a prosecutor’s mindset and to find its weaknesses.

Regardless of the nature of the case or issue presented, Cru advocates forcefully for his clients and has a proven track record of success, including hard-fought wins at jury trial. Cru’s clients know that he will attempt to resolve the case quickly and efficiently for them, but they are also aware that he intimately knows his way around a courtroom and will try any case if needed. While legal disputes can be stressful for any party, Cru’s clients know they are in good hands with him.

When not at the office, Cru enjoys listening to podcasts on national and world events, traveling, and non-fiction books. Cru is especially interested in the technologies behind cryptocurrencies, the blockchain, and Web3 and he looks forward to serving clients at this intersection of law and technology.
