Representing the Trades
Murphy Pearson’s Construction & Engineering industry group represents general and specialty contractors, subcontractors, engineers, developers, design professionals and suppliers. We help these companies and individuals with issues unique to the industry, such as negotiation and drafting construction contracts or defending in construction defect claims, as well as general business matters, including entity formation, labor and employment issues, intellectual property and trademarks, and other matters relevant to smooth business operations.
We leverage the expertise of attorneys in various practice groups, including the firm’s employment, tax, business, real estate and construction attorneys to help clients achieve their business goals.
Engineers & Design Professionals
Murphy Pearson attorneys represent various design professionals, including architects; civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical and acoustical engineers; and landscape architects in both deals and disputes. We bring a deep understanding of the design process and the particular legal responsibilities of design professionals within that process. Whether a client comes to us directly or via a claim tendered through their insurance carriers, our years of experience in professional liability allows us to help clients effectively respond to claims occurring during the construction process and the specific standard of care issues those claims often entail. We are also experienced in circumstances giving rise to the design professional’s duty to defend his or her clients in light of the California Court of Appeal’s ruling in the CH2M Hill case.
